Right now... Alaun ist alle.

Momentan wird kein NaCl und kein Zucker gezüchtet.

Dafür wächst seit September ein kleine Alaunpyramide, die inzwischen mehr als 2 cm Kantenlänge hat.

Und ich habe eine neue Idee: Züchtung mit der Gradienten-Methode nach dem Lavalampen-Prinzip. D.h. das Gefäß der Lavalampe durch ein anderes Glas ersetzen und Alaunsalz reinschmeißen. Dann hat man am Boden heiße Temperaturen, am oberen Rand der Lösung eine etwas kältere Temperatur. Durch Konvektion wird dann Lösung von unten nach oben transportiert. Oben (weil kälter) ist aber eine andere Löslichkeit und unten gesättigte Lösung ist oben übersättigt => Material setzt sich irgendwo ab, z.B. an dem Kristall, den ich noch reinhängen muss.
Heute habe ich dafür alles vorbereitet. Nur leider ist mein Alaun alle... werde nächste Woche (oder morgen) neues kaufen.

Within the last months I continued growing crystals of salt and alum. I will upload some pictures soon, hopefully...
I think especially the shape of the native salt crystals are interesting because some of the show the triangular octahedral faces. I have no idea why by now - usually the shape of NaCl is a simple cube and the {111} faces cannot be seen at all.
